DSDN142 - Coulour Combinations

The use of colour in the second assignment is important and mandatory, so a good selection of colours that work well together and compliment each other is necessary to make the images produces appealing and interesting.

This image (above) overall is quite unattractive, but the combination of the blue, white and green lines in the center look interesting. The colours work well together and none of the colours overpower the other colours so they work well together. If you crossed the green and the blue over one another another interesting colour would be produced that might be a horrible colour or might work with the rest of the image.
Black, gold and grey/white blend well together and aren't overpowering in any way. By having the background as black and the gold and grey overlaid on top of it it makes the colours stand out more than they would against white. Red and yellow, both warm colours on the colour wheel, overlaid on top of white make the brighter colours stand out and appear more impressive than they would against another colour. These work well together because the warm colours compliment each other and don't clash.
The blue and red of this selection would clash against one another quite harshly, but by putting the soft grey between them it tones them down to appear darker and work easier together. The white separates the red from a lighter grey, but all-in-all the colours work well together as a whole. By having these colours placed on either a soft grey background or a white background they can either be made more harsh or softened depending on the desired effect.
